Tell us about yourself, ArkTalent Limited and the Ōtorohanga Employment Hub?
Hi, I am Elle, home is Ōpārau and all things West Coast! Over the past two years I have been the Project Navigator for the Ōtorohanga Employment Hub. In July 2023 I started ArkTalent Limited and became a contractor to continue delivery of the Mayors Task Force for Jobs Employment Programme. Working in the community is hugely rewarding. I love to grow people, my focus is on empowering youth aged 16 to 24, as well as anyone facing job market challenges in our community. We support employers with hiring locally and are committed to post placement care. It’s very humbling to be doing this work and I am always blown away by the support of the district.
Q: What is your favourite and least favourite thing about being a small business owner?
My favourite thing I love is the autonomy to drive the business, putting in extra hours that are passion fuelled, and the freedom that brings to try new things. I am very fortunate to have amazing support and am still very much in the honeymoon stage. Any challenges are just an opportunity to learn and I love that!
Q: What is the best piece of advice you've received, and who gave you that advice?
“Whatever you are considering or about to do – get good advice” This was from my brother who has been a constant mentor in my professional life.
Q: What do you like to do outside of work?
Once a month I travel to a different part of Aotearoa New Zealand for the weekend. I have a self-contained van that I throw a paddleboard in and just enjoy what home has to offer. Outside of travel I love to create artwork and enjoy where I live.
